i never felt comfortable at galleries, the hot gallerist sitting behind the desk doing god knows what on their laptop barley acknowledging my presence and making me feel like a bother for coming in. and art openings felt like a cool kids club that everyone had a password to except for me. i wanted mrkt to feel actually welcoming - i want every person who walks in to the gallery to feel comfortable to ask questions, to talk about the work, and even if they think they know nothing about art, they can leave feeling welcomed by the space. i know this is not groundbreaking, i know im not a saint, im just trying to give myself a space that i always craved and create a community in the city i love.
